 Managing the tricky issues of mental health and wellbeing at work and employee absences

In the workplace context, employee mental health issues can lead to time off work, performance problems, reduced productivity, and problems with other workers. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, employers must identify psychosocial hazards, assess these for risk and put in place reasonable controls, in the same way as for any other health or safety hazard.

In this session we’ll talk about what obligations employers have around mental health and wellbeing and absences, and provide practical guidance on managing these.

Personal intro:

Kate Ashcroft and Christie McGregor are workplace lawyers based here in Tauranga, connecting with clients throughout New Zealand.
